Bioretec
Bioretec products have their roots in biomaterials and implant technology. The research, started by a team led by Professor Pertti Törmälä at the Tampere University of Technology in 1977, was a success. As a result of the team’s work, the first surgical bone fracture fixation using a bioabsorbable fixation device was conducted in 1984 by Professor Rokkanen at Helsinki University Hospital. A bioabsorbable pin was used in the fixation of an ankle fracture in a female patient. Now Bioretec’s R&D team, led by Professor Törmälä, has created the fourth generation of bioabsorbable products, offering new and advanced properties combined with clear benefits for surgeons and patients. One of the key features of Bioretec’s products is their mechanical activity. A memory effect is based on the selected material combination, extensive research and far-ranging experience of material processing. The unique production process allows for medical-grade raw materials to be refined into a controlled and customized end product. |
