Federal Agricultural Research Centre
The Federal Agricultural Research Centre Council is composed of the directors of the Federal Agricultural Research Centre institutes and six members who are elected by the ranks of the Federal Agricultural Research Centre scientists to serve two-year terms. The Council's main purpose is to develop the research program of the Federal Agricultural Research Centre based on the program drafted by the institutes, while taking into consideration the goals of the German Ministry of Agriculture and the suggestions of the Board of Curators. It must also evaluate the financial and personnel needs for projects and contribute to the drafting of a budget proposal, including suggestions for the distribution of the funds available to the Federal Agricultural Research Centre among its institutes. The Council makes recommendations on proposals for, and acceptance of, third-party funding, and makes suggestions for the use of non-designated funds. It coordinates the work of the institutes and creates multi-institute working groups to provide an integrated research program. It further regulates the assignments to and use of common service offices. It drafts proposals for changes in the constitution; for the creation, merger, expansion, preservation and transfer of institutes and central service offices, and assigns various topics to the appropriate institute or office. Further, the Council recommends candidates for institute directorships to the German Minister of Agriculture. |
