Agenix Ltd
In 1982, a small research group based at the Queensland Institute of Technology formed the nucleus of Queensland's first biotechnology company as a spin off from University research. The company was called MabCo and was situated in Springwood. The vision was to capitalise on the emerging field of monoclonal antibody diagnostics. In 1986 MabCo moved to our current premises at Acacia Ridge. It then listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and became AGEN Biomedical Limited (AGEN). Success was rapid, resulting in AGEN being named Queensland Exporter of the Year for 1993. Today, AGEN Biomedical’s lead candidate is its high-technology blood clot-imaging agent, ThromboView®, which has been undergoing human clinical trials in the United States, Canada and Australia. ThromboView uses radio-labelled antibodies to locate blood clots in the body, and could revolutionise the global clot diagnostic imaging market. |
